More people added and a new addition to the family [added February 1, 2005]

Welcome to another Barnett. Caleb William Barnett was born on January 20 in Sale. He is the second son (and third child) of Jason Barnett and Bec Gray.

The children of Daniel Barnett and Elizabeth Dreweatt have been added although details are still outstanding.

Contact has been made with descendants of Arthur George Barnett. Pages will be updated as details come to hand.

More people added [added April 26, 2004]

While I have been rather quiet of late (busy doing non family related things), this month has seen the addition of a number of pages to my web site. I have begun to add details to James Barnett's descendants. So far I have added the first two children, the twins Mary and Frank.

I keep checking the material that is being made available through a number of web sites. The 1871 census for England has allowed me to track down a couple of Barnetts who had gone missing. It is always nice to know where people went to and what happened to them.

Death of James David Pollock - January 17, 2004 [added January 23, 2004]

James died in a car accident on the way home from his father Ronald's memorial service.

See James's page for more details about James.

The descendants of Joseph Barnett, the nineth and youngest child of Thomas Barnett and Sarah Williams, has been added to my family pages. Unfortunately, there are quite a few twigs without leaves. Nevertheless, here is the current state.

Look out for the twins: Arthur George and George Arthur!

Thomas, son of Thomas, son of Thomas, son of Thomas [added November 15, 2003 - updated November 16]

For some time I have been trying to find various descendants of our first Thomas. At times they have done their very best to make it hard to trace them. In a letter written in November 1861 by Mary Hobbs, daughter of George Barnett and Mary Brangwin, to her brother James in Ohio, Mary told of Tom Barnett visiting her. There were other bits of information in the letter pointing to Thomas living in London. I was hopeful that I had found the missing Thomas #4. With assistance from a kind individual who checked the 1861 census entry for me, confirming that the Thomas Barnett who was living in Kentish Town in London gave his place of birth as Shiplake, Oxon. I now have another branch of the family placed. Further checking is required to trace all of the descendants but quite a bit of information is already known. Incidentally, Thomas had a son Thomas.

See Thomas's page for more details.

Family connections found [added November 4, 2003]

Elizabeth Dreweatt, my great, great grandmother, had a sister Harriett. Until last month I had not been able to find Harriett and what happened to her. Well, Harriett, like Elizabeth, married, came out to Victoria with her husband [Robert Day Bust], had a number of children there before the family moved on to New Zealand. I am now in contact with the wife of one of our Kiwi cousins. I'll let you know when further information comes to hand.

And another connection. If you look for Bradford in the family index you will find that Emily Barnett married Arthur Edwin Bradford and had a number of children. I have now made contact with a descendant of Emily who lives in the US. Once again, I'll keep you posted with news and progress.

Christmas Gathering

This year the Christmas gathering will be at John and Rhonda's on the Saturday before Christmas (December 20) at lunch time. Please let Rhonda know if you are coming so that there are enough plates, cutlery, drinking things and chairs.

The pressie limit this year is $10. A perpetual trophy will be awarded to the bringer of the "most imaginitive/funny gift" so put on your thinking caps and keep an eye out for something "interesting" and be prepared to own up to your contribution. I'm sure Helen would have taken out this award for her Mr Con books and the wine rack.

If anyone has photos to contribute to this news page please send them to me.

Lorraine
