2.4.4.3 Henry Barnett

Henry Barnett was the third child and second son of James Barnett and Eliza Collins. He was born on July 18, 1854 in Medina County, Ohio.

Henry, with his brothers, Frank and Arthur, and his father walked from Medina Co to Providence Township when the family relocated when he was eleven.

According to the 1880 census, Henry was working on his father's farm along with his brother Arthur while sister Emma was keeping house. His mother had already passed away.

Henry was a farmer throughout his life, initially working on the family farm and then the acres he inherited from his father in 1888. The 40 acres was still timbered and he cleared his land and his brother’s land, too.

Henry married Agnes Heller on August 4, 1892. After their marriage, Henry and Agnes lived in the old Wash Masters place on Burkey Southern, now Route 295, while his brother-in-law Tom Pollock, husband of his younger sister Emma Barnett, built a house for his family and relocated them. The Pollock’s had been living in the Barnett home. Henry and Agnes then moved into the Barnett house. It was in this house that four of their five children were born.

In 1894 Henry purchased his brother Frank’s 40 acres.

Henry and Agnes lived in the Barnett house and farmed until 1929.

After 1929 Henry and Agnes lived in a number of places in the area.

Henry died February 11, 1940, aged 85. He is buried in the Mt Pleasant Cemetery, Lucas County, Ohio.

A death notice for Henry was published in the Toledo Blade of February 13, 1940.

Agnes R Heller was born on September 20, 1865, daughter of Oliver P Heller and Margaret Grassom and died April 15, 1944, aged 78. She is buried in the Mt Pleasant Cemetery, Lucas County, Ohio.
