Rolland J Barnes was the sixth and final child of Myrtle Pollock and Rolland Emerson Barnes. He was born on May 28, 1922 in Ohio.

In 1930, according to the US census, he was still at school. His name was listed as Junior.

Like many family members, Rolland was a school teacher.

Rolland married Ruby Bassett and they have four children:

  1. Ronald, married to Carol Heilman
  2. Randy
  3. Ricky
  4. Robyn

Rolland died on August 26, 1985 in the Northern Michigan Hospital, Petoskey, MI. He was 63 years old. An obituary was published in the Toledo Blade on August 27, 1985:

Rolland J. Barnes, 63, of Charlevoix, Mich., retired area school teacher and coach, died yesterday in the Northern Michigan Hospital, Petoskey.
