2.4.4.1.5 Myrtle Pollock

Myrtle Pollock was the fifth child and first surviving daughter of Mary Barnett and James "Jim" Pollock. She was born on April 17, 1884.

Myrtle taught school for a short time. She must have been 18 as that was the minimum age for teachers at that time.

Myrtle married Rolland Emerson Barnes on September 16, 1905. In 1920 and 1930 the family was living in Angola Road, Sharples Village, Lucas Co, Ohio. Rolland was a farmer. In 1920 the household comprised Rolland, Myrtle, Harold, Beatrice, Keith, James, Mary, Rolland's mother (named as Esther) and his brother Frank who was a farm labourer. The 1930 household was Rolland (named as Roll), Myrtle, Harold, Glee, Keith, Woodrow, Esther, Junior and Rolland's brother Frank.

Myrtle died at her home in Swanton, Ohio, on August 10, 1944, aged 60. She was buried in the Sharples Cemetery, Harding Township, near Swanton, Ohio.

Rolland Emerson Barnes was born on October 14, 1874 in Illinois. He was not the only Barnes to marry into the family. His sister Mae married Myrtle's younger brother Benjamin. Rolland was a farmer. He died on May 30, 1952, aged 77. He, too, is buried in the Sharples Cemetery.
