2.4.3.6 Agnes Hobbs

Agnes Hobbs was the sixthe and final child of Mary Barnett and Joseph Hobbs. She was born in Cookham, Berks on July 11, 1852 and baptised in the parish church on September 14 of that year.

At the time of the 1881 census, Agnes was 28, an annuitant and staying with her Aunt Eliza and her husband Trew Jegon, at Chalvey Park, Upton cum Chalvey (now Slough), Bucks, her mother, Mary, having died the previous year.

Agnes is often mention in family letters.

At the time of the 1901 census, Agnes was with her widowed sister Mary at Bourne End, Wooburn, Bucks. She was 47, single and living on her won means. Her place of birth, for some unexplained reason, was given as Turville.

In 1903 Agnes was granted letters of administration in relation to the estate of her aunt Julia Barnett.

Agnes died on September 13, 1922, aged 70, in St Peter's Home, mortimer place, Kilburn, Middlesex. According to the Probate Index, Agnes was of 13 Downside Crescent, Hampstead, Middlesex and a spinster at the time of her death. Her place and date of death are given in the index. Edward Gwynne Vevers, her nephew, is listed as having proved it. Effects £3,609 2s 11d.
