Walter Harold Smith was the second son and seventh of the eleven children born to Mary "Polly" Hobbs and Stephen Smith. He was born at Hambleden, Bucks, on January 22, 1878. She was baptised at St Mary the Virgin, Hambleden, on April 16, 1878.
He married Margaret Ellen Weeks on April 13, 1914 in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Margaret was the daughter of John Weeks and Ellen Stubington.
Walter died on October 20, 1948 in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
