[Last amended: May 9, 2003]
Elsie Gladys Marguerite Hobbs was the third child born to Joseph Overton Hobbs and Catherine Malone Devlin. She was born on August 28, 1885 in Tooele, Utah.
Elsie grew up in a loving home with her brothers and sister, and she was an excellent student.
Elsie married Charles Marcus Turpin on May 20, 1908. In 1910 they were living in Bennion Ward, Salt Lake, Utah, and their first child, a daughter Thora E, was 2 months old when the census was taken. In 1920 the census was taken on January 15. The family was still living in Utah, in Salt Lake County. Charles was listed as a farmer. The family had grown and now included Thora E (9), Raymond C (7), Fern (4 11/12) and Dillon M (1 7/12).
