2.1.8 Emily Barnett
[Last amended: October 12, 2003]
Emily Barnett was most probably born at Rotherfield Greys, Oxfordshire. She was baptised there on December 22, 1823. She was the fourth daughter and eighth child of Thomas Barnett and Caroline Bassigny. She was the first daughter to survive infancy.
At the time of the 1841 census, Emily was living at Bromsden Farm, Bix, Oxfordshire, with her brothers Thomas and John and her younger sister Harriet. She was 18 years old.
Emily married Arthur Edwin Bradford in 1843.
At the time of the 1881 census, Emily and Arthur were living at Sunnyside, Wandswoth, Surrey. Arthur was listed as a retired linen draper. Emily’s brother, John, was listed as a visitor.
By April 1891 Emily was widowed and it appears that she was a resident of the Henley Workhouse.
Arthur Edwin Bradford was born in the City of London around 1815 and baptised on October 1, 1815 at St Antholin Budge Row, London. His parents were Samuel and Susan. He was a linen draper by trade. He died in 1890 and was buried at Hambleden on August 30.
